From New Years Day. I’m going out to Drink and Click tomorrow so maybe I’ll shoot something new to post, but in the mean time still posting from my backlog. I shot and processed this many months ago, but just never made it to the top of my list to post :).

From a few weeks ago. I don’t know if the odds of an overcast morning are greater on Sunday, but they seem like they are sometimes. I’ll be back out tomorrow morning, hoping for low fog instead of low clouds.

I processed this image three times before I liked this version of it. From the other morning on Slacker Hill. I haven’t been able to get out and shoot much the last couple of weeks so just working through the back catalog. Hopefully I’ll get some time to shoot this weekend.

I recently shared a picture on Facebook of Katie pointing to this mac, which my Dad replied to and indicated his shock that this was now in a museum. Since its nearly 30 years old, I figured a museum sounded like a pretty good spot for it, and my mom pointed out that based on that criteria I now qualify to be in a museum too.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I really love the way this came out with the post processing. It really feels like something you’d see in the 80s.

Embarcadero is remarkably quiet at about 5 to 6 AM. You’d think for such an active city, you’d see more people before the sun comes up. That being said, while photographing the sunrise, I took the opportunity to turn back around and look at the Ferry Building during Blue Hour.

Still working on my long exposure technique. I went to Sausalito a week or so ago and did some long exposure towards the city, but unfortunately the pier there is incredibly highly trafficed making it difficult to get a multiple minute exposure without the camera shaking terribly from people walking by. That being said, I did get a couple of minute exposure, but the water wasn’t quite as smooth as I was hoping for. I don’t know if that’s a characteristic of the waves or the length of the exposure. I’m assuming exposure length, but I need some more practice with some different locations to be sure.

From Point Bonita Lighthouse, looking east across the bridge. That day was clear as a bell, and was quite warm for a January day. You can see a number of boats in the bay enjoying the nice weather. I wish the road to this was open all the time, would make a great place to shoot sunrise, but alas its only open in the afternoons.

From several months ago at Kirby Cove. I’m working to clear my backlog of publishable photos. This was a brilliant morning in January. I’ve published sevearl things from that morning and still have more to go.

Met up with a Flickr friend sampost this morning at 5:15. We happened to pull into the parking lot near the roundabout at exactly the same time, which is convenient since we’d never met in person. He’s obviously in much better shape than I am, since the hike up Slacker seemed to be no issue at all for him but I needed to pause at least 3 times to catch my breath. Anyways, sunrise was totally brilliant this morning. No fog, but the cloud cover was phenomenal.
